Photos Backup: A Gemini Interaction

Photos Backup: A Gemini Interaction

AI is many things. For me, AI is a mostly faster google search that returns the mostly correct answers. I don’t really know what happens in the future. For right now though, it makes my tasks easier to complete and allows me to complete them in less time. But, you cannot assume a passive role. You need to:

  • know what you want and be able to express it in concise terms
  • validate the responses returned by AI
  • get used to many AI apologies and be able accept insincere flattery

In other words, you need to work with AI…

  • check the answers it gives you
  • work with AI in order to iteratively refine the responses and the answers
  • do not get to comfortable with the responses you receive
  • manage the subsequent iterations of code. Perhaps using git to track revisions

A Basic Interation

Read through my interaction trying to manage my photos backup on my Macbook. I have performed the backups on my own many times so I am familiar with my process. I wanted to work through this exercise since I already had familiarity with the problem and I felt I would be able to drill down and interact better with Gemini. I should point out also that I still managed to learn a few new things along the way.
